I saw this garden last week and thought of you, readers. I'd love to know what you make of it, and that's why it's Hot Plot or Not? Number 4. If you're new to the concept, it's simple: I show you a picture
of a garden, and you judge it "hot or not".
Just add your thoughts below: please start with a "hot" or a "not" so I can tally the votes.
For those regulars among you, you may be interested to know that Hot Plot or Not No. 3 garnered 11.5 "nots" and 3.5 "hots" for what New Shoot reminded me was Minterne Gardens in Dorset. Funnily enough I remember liking the white hydrangeas but didn't even notice the bird bath: that may have been while I was raging about the lack of tea room, though ... NOT!

Sadly NOT, Jane. Don't like to criticisie anybody's attempts to grow something in their front gardens but have never been a fan of red, pink and yellow too close together unless in something really wacky which this isn't. Think I'd be limbo dancing to get past the hanging baskets too.
I rather liked the bay tree boobs!

Not, but so close to being hot. Imagine it without the begonias and that is a really nice little set of matching containers. Can begonias ever be hot? i think not.

Hot. It's a bit dated, but it's bold and simple, and works well with the age of the building. (Must require a horrible amount of watering, though!)

Not.
But I might have thought differently if they'd kept to the red theme they had going on their windowsill.
Do you know what's worse than a garden with no tearoom? The one I visited yesterday which charges £9.30 for a pot of tea (for one), a cup of coffee and 2 slices of cake :o
And no, it wasn't a National Trust garden either.

NOT I'm not even sure where to begin...

I will say hot because I like the red colour. It looks like the flowers are spilling out of the windows. And I like the way that all their visitors will get a faceful of flowers as they ring the bell. They need more plants though.

Not.
I'm with VP - lose the pink and yellow and carry on the windows theme. A shame because it all looks fabulously healthy.

I always love gardens like this. Someone has clearly gone to so much effort over some totally hideous plants! But at least when they come home every day, they see something which makes them smile, and when we walk past, we see something which makes us roar with laughter...

Not. The window boxes alone might be acceptable to one passing quickly by. What a waste of plant vigor.

NOT - but might have been HOT if the flowers had been a different colour to go with the paintwork.

HOT! What's wrong with you people?! It's bright, lively and colourful. And it's cared for and exuberant. Love life, love colour.

Not - just not enough of a theme, nothing tied into an idea that seems even a little bit thought out.

Hot: How could anyone pass this by without a double take. I bet there is a damn rabid hanging basket competition with the neighbours though! Get ur flowerin' freak on guys!

Hot Don't like hanging baskets or begonias much but I like that the owner's put that much effort into it. Let the style police turn up their noses; I think this one can stay. (Do you think there's a crocheted toilet roll cover in the loo?)
