What is it with the beehive look at the moment? Everything seems to be disguised as a home for the honeybee, from water butts and compost bins to pots and wasp traps (pictured).
Ironic, perhaps, given the decline of the honeybee population of late. Perhaps we should be investing in real, not fake hives?
(Having said that, I do rather like these traps (will wasps be attracted to a beehive? Seems counterintuitive...) and I have my eye on a picturesque beehive-style compost bin for the garden.)
Beehives look so cool but old-fashioned at the same time.
Been dabbling with the idea of getting a bee nester from the Divine web-site to do my little bit for bee-kind but I have a partner with bee/wasp/anything buzzy terror(don't know the greek term)so may have to put it on the lotty instead.
I have a pet theory that bee's are sensitive to mobile phone/wifi signals, bit like whales and the noise from ships interfering with their navigation. Perhaps with all their pollination of crops the Bee should the symbol for the green revolution as we'll be in trouble without them.

You'd think that a wasp trap that looked like a wasp's nest would be more effective than one that looked like a beehive wouldn't you? Maybe it's for catching wasps in the grips of an identity crisis?

Hmmm so I just saw I'm not as clever as I thought I was and you thought of that too. I must read to the end of blog posts :)
