Spring forward, fall back

Still light outside at 7.30pm last night.

Slight sunburn after putting in several hours on the plot - sans woolly hat, I tell you - on the allotment at the weekend.

Will you join me in a hearty "HALLELUJAH"?!

Yay :-) I've been looking forward to spending an hour at the plot after work all day, now I know summer is on it's way.

The I'm Not a Plastic Bag saga As I mentioned in my inaugural post for The Old Bag Project, my bid to find the best alternatives to plastic bags, I've been trying to lay my hands on the new Anya Hindmarch-designed bag that's due to go on sale in branches of Sainsbury next month. I've had mixed feelings about this bag since I learned more about it, not least because, as a post on Guardian Unlimited's News blog written by one of my colleagues points out today, it's ironic that a product that is meant to reduce plastic bag consumption has instead fostered a celebrity-inspired media frenzy...

At last: some progress on the plot Things have been at a bit of a low ebb with the allotment for a while now, but suddenly, while I'm almost eight months pregnant, things seem to be starting to come together on my small patch of land. Rick and I spent two sessions on the plot at the weekend, soaking up the beautiful weather and getting started on some preparation, sowing and planting. Of course I'm pretty limited in what I can do physically, and have been for a while - I haven't done any digging or heavy work all winter, which, on top of a crazy work...
