Apologies for the blogging hiatus ... I have been at the utterly fabulous Country House Montali hotel in Umbria, Italy, eating the best vegetarian food that's ever passed my lips and enjoying a very relaxing holiday. If you're a vegetarian, or if your nearest and nearest is one you must visit this hotel - that's an order!
The owners Alberto and Malu have worked magic in creating a peaceful retreat. Let me show you what I mean - the pic is of the view from our little private terrace - the hotel has just 10 rooms and is set in an olive grove on top of a mountain, a 4km drive up an unpaved track. From a horticultural point of view it was fascinating to see at close hand how the olives had been pruned.
I did miss my allotment, although we met another couple who were keen veg growers too so I got my fix of chatting about the fine art of tending tomatoes and which broad bean varieties are best.
More soon, once I've ploughed through my email inbox ... if you've sent me a message, I'll try to be in touch soon.
This place sounds fabulous. My husband and I want to make a trip to Italy sometime -- primarily to enjoy the great food. I'm glad to know about this place, and look forward to hearing more.
Glad to find another organic gardener, too!

That looks and sounds amazing - I ma envious! This time in three weeks I will be in an agriturismo in Northern Italy and I can't wait. I can't say it's going to be as luxurious as this, but maybe I can add this to the list for future trips...
