Weeds: the plants everyone can grow

A wonderful tongue-in-cheek post from a newly-discovered blog (to me at least) Allbert's Greenhouse, on the various sections of the fascinating plant family known as "Weedaceae":

Spinybastardae - Includes the thistles, the brambles, cactacae, certain nettles and some ornamental nightshades. Characterized by spines which can penetrate thick leather gardening gloves, trousers, and 1/2" hardened steel tank armor. Best approached from a distance with a horticultural flame thrower.

I have more than enough bind weed in my garden for everyone to have a cutting.

Rotary debacle We did find the hole in the lawn for the rotary clothes dryer, after I spent several minutes like a madwoman spearing the lawn with a spade until I heard a clang that indicated I'd hit the metal pipe that holds the pole in place. It was an impromtu way of aerating the grass, I guess ... And no, there aren't any photos of me prancing around with the spade!
