There are lots of lovely recipes for serving purple sprouting broccoli, but to be honest I prefer it "naked", just lightly steamed and eaten straight away.
Another favourite allotment-generated flavour of mine is the first fresh French sorrel leaves of the season, which I sampled yesterday. It's almost enough to convince me that summer's on its way.
Purple sprouting is perfect steamed or boiled, but for best effect add a generous dash of vinegar when you serve. My mum used to add it and it makes purple sprouting delicious. She also used loads of vinegar and sugar with home grown tomatoes. Heather

We have only discovered how good sorrel is since we inherited a plant when we took on our plot two years ago.We have tried soup and a sauce which is wonderful with fish and best of all it is really easy to grow.
Looking forward to reading your book.
