UPDATE:
I got a reply today saying the head of the grounds team is going to look at it straight away. Given the likely water shortage this summer, I need to be thinking of other ways to keep the plot moist, but without a tap, I really am in trouble ...
ORIGINAL POST: Below is the text of an email I sent today regarding the parlous state of the water supply to my plot. I'll let you know what the response is ...
Dear XXX
As you will see from the attached picture, I am emailing about the state of the water tap adjacent to my plot, number XXX on the XXX site. The wooden post to which the tap was attached has gradually rotted away, and is now so fragile that the screws securing the tap base have come loose, rendering the tap almost unusable.
I raised this matter at the last AGM but would like to get the tap repaired before the season begins.
I tried using the tap last weekend but I also noticed that the flow of water had slowed to a trickle. I am not sure if this is a separate problem with the supply, or part of the problem with the rotting post.
I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if and when the tap can be attended to.
Many thanks
Jane Perrone
Full on Jane! Can you get the head of your grounds team to run British Gas; Power Gen; United Utilities; Norweb; Network Rail..........
On our allotments there are some thumping big water storage tanks on some of the plots. Don't know where they came from but must be in the region of 500 - 1000 gal capacity. Problem is getting one and space to put it. Something like that though coz it's only going to get worse if current climate predictions prove correct.

Well Clodhopper, the proof of the pudding is when I check out the tap at the weekend ...

The problem will be from the water supplier. Due to the huge amount of water we loose from leaking pipes under ground local water authorities are turning down water pressure.
This is not solving the problem of leaking pipes but does put less pressure on the on leaking areas. That’s why your tap is not so good now.
