So there I am, stumbling around on the plot last night at around 5.15pm (yes, it was nearly dark) trying to put two huge piles of kitchen waste on the compost heap, and pick some lollo rosso lettuce. The light from the tennis court floodlights helped a bit, but I still ended up muddy and slightly scratched.
I got half way home before I realised I'd forgotten to pull up carrots for making this. When I got back to the plot it was so dark that I made acquaintance with several creepy crawlies while trying to locate the carrots ...
On the plus side, the chestnut a la bourguignonne was delicious.
Sounds like an awesome casserole and well worth the stroll out to get the carrots in the dark. What's even more appetising is the fact that they're out of your own garden. Way to go!
