Tofino Botanical Gardens has to be one of my favourite gardens to visit in the world. It's tucked away in a remote part of Vancouver Island, but well worth the trip. Particular highlights include the pond (pictured right) and its array of monster dragonflies, the kitchen garden, the Bernardo O'Higgins homestead and the children's trail.
Sobo, the in-garden lunch and dinner stop that turns out delicious food, is also unmissable. I'm planning to add Sobo and the garden to Ivebeenthere.co.uk (disclaimer: it's run by my employer Guardian Unlimited).
I visited Tofino about three years ago, although I didn't see the gardens. I loved all the American Indian names and symbols and crafts that are still there. I saw a little brown bear there too!

I am going there soon. I'll have to check it out. I love Tofino!

I loved Tofino, and especially the gardens, when I was there this summer, also after visiting Daniel and UBC.
I especially liked the sense of discovery, and the way the gardens blend into the forests and back again. Going down to the shore and looking across the water to the islands was magical.
