Reasons to be fruitful number three

In honour of National Allotments Week, here's another reason to get yourself a plot: by keeping allotment sites fully occupied with renters, it's less likely that the land will be targeted by predatory developers, so that allotments can continue to be "green lungs", community areas, and sources of fresh local food.

Reasons to be fruitful number four Yup, it's still National Allotments Week, a fact that seems to have passed an awful lot of people - including my local allotments - by. But I soldier on with my reasons to get an allotment. Perhaps I should go back to why I got an allotment in the first place. I guess, at the heart of it, was my sheer wonder at the fact that a seed, some sunshine, soil, toil and water added, can be transformed into a tomato, a pumpkin, or a radish.
