- "Early" carrot, beetroot, turnips and pea varieties sown at the start of the month will extend your harvest season
- Winter/spring veg such as corn salad, purslane, chicory, endive rocket, spring cabbages, spinach, chard and winter lettuce

Other jobs
- Keep checking gooseberries for sawfly
- Cut back comfrey and use as a mulch, or make into a liquid manure
- Check your compost heap to make sure it hasn't dried out - if it has, take off the cover or add water
- Keep tying in your tomato plants, which should by now be racing up their support canes
- Propagate strawberry plants once the crop is finished by pegging down a couple of runners from your best plants. They'll root in no time if they're touching the soil, and you can cut off the runner
