Despite having nearly reached the end of February without completing even half of the gardening jobs I'd meant to do this month, I am pressing on with my foolhardy to-do list. (Previous months here.) With two weeklong work-related trips in the next month, god knows when I'll catch up, but looking on the bright side, the evenings are starting to draw out, and despite the recent snow, the spring bulbs are out and spring can't be far off.
So, with a flourish, here is May. Verdant May. Sunny, long evenings May. This yearning for spring/summer might have been brought on by the picture to the right, which was my attempt to capture the snow falling on my garden.
Sow more pea sugar rae (OGC), pumpkin jack be little (OGC), squash twonga (OGC), kale (Vida Verde), morning glory, carrot nantes 2 (OGC), carrot kuttinger (OGC) and yellow scotland tomato (VV).
Mulch everything. Sow second lines of beetoot and lettuce (see March and April). Check supports on peas and beans. Earth up potatoes. Weed. Cut back grasses and weeds to the side of plot with fancy new brushcutter (thanks dad). Relax. If there's time.
I really enjoy your Blog, and have added it to my Yahoo home pade! Check out my forum, I am sure that you will enjoy the gardening articles, and probably need a place to kick your shoes off, relax and relieve some of the days strains! Phil
