I've discovered a fantastic website via a comment left on a post I wrote over at my work blog about slugs. Self Sufficient-ish is full of recipes, tips and advice on living the "Good Life" a la Tom and Barbara Good of the 70s TV series, while recognising that not all of us live in a rural idyll.
It's worth starting with the site's philosophy page, then clicking the links on the left and right to get advice on everything from traditional remedies to how to make a sheet metal bender. The forum is also interesting: as you contribute more and more posts your picture changes from the various Good Life characters until you end up as Barbara. The recipes include some obscure ones (acorn flour and nettle beer, for instance) but there are lots of things everyone will go for, including a clutch of recipes for pumpkin, and vegan chocolate cake.
I think it is a fantastic site myself, but I would say that as it is mine;) Seems a small world on the web I notice that you have fluffy muppetus's blog as a link too, she is a frequent visitor to our forums. Anyway good luck with this seasons crops.

Agreed - SSish is an excellent resource for people who are keen to lean towards a more responsible way of living.
This whole 'dipping your toes in' to the lifestyle, is far more encouraging and yields better results, than taking the bully-boy approach "You WILL recycle, or Else" (a headline I happened to read today...).
It opens your eyes to alternative ways of doing things, without making you feel like you are a complete space alien for doing so.
Very nice work Mr Hamilton :-)
