It's this blog's one-year birthday on March 4. I am thinking of ways to celebrate with some kind of big number. I have an idea or two about how to mark the day, but I'd love to hear your suggestions.
Equally, I'd like to know if there's anything in particular you'd like me to feature - questions you'd like answered, updates on things I've blogged about before or my top tips for growing a particular plant. As ever, the comments are open to allcomers.
Coming later this week on Horticultural: my scary to-do list, the art of chitting, how to make hanging baskets super-green, and a post that'll probably be entitled "what the hell grows in Kansas?"
Congrats on your anniversary and on the nomination for awards.
I spent two weeks once in eastern Kansas on business and the one thing that grew there that delighted me was a wildflower that grows in the middle of America. We call them winecups (callirhoe digitata). They have a trailing stem similar to strawberries, and produce in spring a simply perfect bloom of purple-reddish color.
I used to grow winecups in my Texas garden, but had not seem them for a while until that trip to Kansas in May. The winecups were blooming out along side roads and trails.
