This beetroot soup was made with home grown Yellow Scotland roasted tomato puree, onion (Radar, I think) and barbietola di chioggia beetroot - the one with beautiful red and white circles. The end result looks a little like watermelon sorbet but has all the earthy richness of the beetroot and the velvety tomato. The eye is fooled, but not the tongue.
Main activity right now on the allotment is picking caterpillars off my Marner Early red cabbages. I read somewhere that the red varieties suffer from less pest damage because the birds can see the caterpillars more easily against the red backdrop of the leaves. It's true, but the birds have still missed a few. There's always a robin flitting about nearby ready to snap up the wrigglers I "liberate" from the cabbages so it's all part of nature's cycle, even if I do feel a little squeamish about the whole exercise.
Hello, I am a student in year 11 and I would like to use your picture of beetroot soup in my summative project brief for my ICT GCSEs. Could you please email me back with your answer as to whether I am allowed to use your picture or not
Thank you
Samantha
