Picked a load of spinach this morning plus a bit of chard to make filo pastries filled with spinach, pine nuts and goats cheese, served with a roast tomato sauce. Unfortunately the tomatoes weren't from the allotment: the stubborn lack of sunshine this summer is leaving them resolutely green. Anyone know any good green tomato recipes? And before you ask, yes, that is the camera strap intruding in the right-hand corner!
I love green tomato chutney. I've tried fried green tomatoes, but hated them.

In the southern US, where frying used to be a major way of life, my friends fry them in a batter of corn meal.
They can also be pickled, too.
In fall, I usually put green tomatoes in a paper bag and let them ripen slowly ... or put them on a windowsill and let them ripe faster.
