So it's Monday afternoon, I have the day off but I was supposed to be writing a paper to present at BlogTalk. Instead I was - you guessed it - down the allotment, pootling about doing a few neglected jobs such as providing the tomatoes with a bit of extra support and absent-mindedly chewing on sweet peas while thinking about blogging. It was supposed to rain this afternoon, according to the weather forcecast, and although the skies were overcast, and there were several dramatic rolls of thunder, not a drop fell.
On the way back I encountered Tripod, the local 3-legged black cat (doesn't every town have one?). I am not a great fan of felines but Tripod is just so ridiculously keen and pathetic-looking he simply must be stroked on my way to or from the allotment: he's usually there, near the broken-down van next to an encroaching hedge. Next time I'll take me camera along and get a snap of him. I started calling him Tripod, predictably, when I first saw him, but now I've noticed other people calling him that - has my name caught on, or is the cat's real name?
Now I am back at my study, attempting to write, but ending up blogging instead. One thing this blog has allowed me to do is to see things from the non-journalist blogger's point of view. I really love writing the weblogs I contribute to at work, but the one that really gets me excited is this one.
Yum, sugar pea norli. I'm growing these too this year (for the first time) - lovely peas, either raw or quickly warmed in a little butter. Luckily I've over done the quantities and the load I much through when working don't seem to have dented the crop too badly. Keep up the good work, apart from here I'm especially enjoying the Guardian USA blog.
