Gardeners' World go blog

Thanks to Graham Holliday for pointing out that members of the Gardeners' World* team are now blogging, here. There's a post on National Allotments Week, which has come and gone and I never got around to mentioning. Can't say I saw or read a single bit in the media about it, which is a shame ... especially given how much "buzz" there is around allotments at the moment.

Also, check out the post on eccentric gardeners to find out which horticulturalist had a leaf-nosed bat neamed after him.

*For non-UK readers, GW is a long-running TV gardening show - some would say a national institution -currently presented by Monty Don.

Great to see them blogging! It's a nice site but they don't have an RSS feed that I can find!

It may sound trivial but it means I can't add them to my daily fix of news.

Why would they keep so quite about this?

I think it's what they call a "soft launch" ... in other words they'll start blogging but only make a song and dance about it once it's up and running for while. It's common practice for web stuff ... but still possibly annoying if you miss out on some posts as a result.

thanks for pointing this out. GW is one of my favourites.

Jane, you're right. The launch proper is coming soon... I'll drop them a line and alert them to your RSS concerns. I know they really want to make this work and they're a great bunch of folk. So, hang in there, RSS or no RSS for now...

Glad you like the new-look site. The reason we've been keeping quiet is that there's much more content to come in September. If you want to be the first to know about the new features as and when we launch them, you can sign up to our newsletter (see the Newsletter box on the right-hand side of the gardenersworld.com homepage). You'll be glad to know we've got an RSS feed coming soon too...

I will follow the Gardeners World Blog with interest.

Not everyone feels that TV programs are still as institutional

Bette Midler on gardening:

  • "My whole life had been spent waiting for an epiphany, a manifestation of God's presence, the kind of transcendent, magical experience that lets you see your place in the big picture. And that is what I had with my first compost heap."
